A worked example: 24 keywords, one month
You track 24 keywords weekly. That is 24 checks a week, about ninety-six a month. At a quarter of a cent each, the month costs about twenty-four cents.
In week three, "client portal software" jumps from 21 to 12 after you added a comparison page. In week four, "crm comparison" slips from 15 to 17, and you get an email. Without tracking you would have found out when traffic fell. With it, you open the page, see the competitor that moved above you, and fix it that day.
What rank tracking costs
Each keyword check costs about $0.0025. The cost of a tracker is shown before it starts. Lookups come out of the usage your plan includes each month, priced from the cost of the data. Repeating a recent lookup is free, and top-ups never expire.

No. Search Console shows what Google reports for your own site. A rank tracker checks the live results, so you can also track keywords you do not rank for yet.
