Keyword research beyond Google: YouTube, Reddit, AI

By the Auditmatic team · Updated 3 November 2026 · 6 min read

Where else people search

  • YouTube: how-to and review searches, where video is the expected answer.
  • Reddit and forums: real, unpolished questions and complaints.
  • Pinterest: visual and planning searches, strong for home, food and design.
  • Marketplaces and app stores: buying searches inside one platform.
  • AI assistants: full questions answered in a paragraph.

How to mine each place

  1. Search your topic on each platform and use the autocomplete to see common phrasing.
  2. Read the top questions and note the exact words people use.
  3. Note what they complain about. Complaints reveal needs a page can answer.
  4. Collect the phrases in one list with the platform where you found each.

Use what you find

Turn the questions into pages on your own site, in the words people used. Check each phrase in a keyword tool to see whether it also has search volume on Google.

Treat AI assistants as a channel

Ask an AI assistant the questions your customers ask and see who it recommends. If you are missing, the gap is visible. The AI visibility strategies in this library show how to measure and close it.

Run it with your AI agent

Connect your agent to Auditmatic, then paste this prompt. Replace the parts in angle brackets. It reads real data and asks before it spends anything.

Use my Auditmatic project for <your-domain>. Run research_ai_visibility_prompts for my market and list the 15 questions people most likely ask AI assistants. Then run research_keywords for the five most common themes and show which also have search volume on Google. Group the result by the page I should write.
Run this with ai explorer and prompt finder on AuditmaticAudit any site free with no signup. Plans start at $5 a month, with lookups included.

Without a tool

You can do this by hand with free tools:

  • Search your topic on YouTube, Reddit and Pinterest and note the top questions.
  • Ask an AI assistant the same questions and note who it names.
  • Check each phrase in Google autocomplete.

Questions

Do I need a presence on every platform?

No. Use them to learn what people ask. You only need to publish where your customers are.

Does this replace Google keyword research?

No. It adds questions Google tools can miss. Always check the phrases on Google as well.
